Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
My latest newspaper column is about second-hand craft stores and how I know so much about them. No surprises here.

Once again I strike foolâs gold with an article in Lancaster Newspaperâs Sunday Living section. Hereâs a taste of my latest Side Ways column:
For years I dipped into my NOS â new old stock â of greeting cards from (our family Ben Franklin) store. My Darth Vader figurine case remains in flawless condition. Thanks, Mom, Pop and shop.
If you care about reducing waste and wish to experience a similar immersion into the NOS world, have I got a store for you.
First stop is my own gateway to this cornucopia of conservation: Lancaster Creative Reuse at 1766 Oregon Pike. Itâs a place I visit often to gather up inexpensive postcards, project fodder and the occasional odd gift.
Iâve rarely spent more than $20 filling up a couple of bags. I tend to skip out of there like a tween girl after seeing âWickedâ onâŠ..
If you like Town Character, and why wouldnât you, youâre subscribed, I have a hunch youâll dig Side Ways too.
The fun part for me is hearing from other town characters who enjoy the topics. Debbie, our neighborhood pharmacist, enjoys them. That might explain the free dog treats for Rue and unlimited access to medicines and ammunition.1
I also love that LNP is an actual newspaper. I get to see my articles in print. You can too if you pick up a Sunday paper or subscribe.
Stay in touch, and get to know your town and its characters. Thanks for reading!
Cheers,
Tom

âUnlimitedâ is a joke. But they do sell ammo, and that deserves further explanation. Thatâs an article for another time.
